About the Respect Life Office
The Respect Life Office in the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph was formed in April 2006, under the direction of Bishop Robert Finn.
The Respect Life Office provides leadership for all respect life activities to the Catholic community of the Diocese. All activities undertaken by the Respect Life Office are consistent with traditional Catholic doctrine and performed with the approval and direction of legitimate Church authorities such as the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The programs are designed at the diocesan level and distributed to parishes, which implement them to fit the particular needs of their individual communities. These programs reach their potential through the efforts of the pastor and parish volunteers, whose work is crucial to their success of the programs.
The mission of the Respect Life Office is concentrated in four main areas: Educational, Pastoral, Spiritual, and Public Policy. The Respect Life Office encourages all Catholics to meet the challenge to speak out with determination, courage and patience on behalf of the sanctity of life whenever and wherever it is threatened.
The office serves the following counties in Missouri: Andrew, Atchison, Bates, Buchanan, Caldwell, Carroll, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Daviess, DeKalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Henry, Holt, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Platte, Ray, St. Clair, Vernon, and Worth.
